Hong Kong Lacrosse Under-20 Program (Male) 2020/21 Tryout & Program Info

Tryout Announcement

Tryouts for the Hong Kong U20 (U22) Representative team will be held in October. It will be a joint tryout with the HPP/MRT players tryout. In the tryout, players will participate in practices and intra- squad scrimmages.

Those selected will form a training group (approx. 30-35 players) that will participate in regular training, gym sessions and local and international competitions over the coming year. The team roster for the 2020 World Championships will be finalized in the spring of 2020.

Arrangement for Gym and Field Testing will be communicated after the deadline of the application(13th October 2020) via email. For all Field sessions, please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for warm-up and field set up.
Location of the tryout dinner will be communicated as soon as possible via email

Tryout Cost

• Tryout registration fee $250 HKD (Non-refundable)
• Fee's for those selected will be communicated separately.

Program Requirements

As a developing lacrosse program HKLA will again be seeking the FIL’s approval of an age dispensation to permit U22 players. Overage players must be resident in and hold a Hong Kong passport. (or Permanent Resident Card).

Relevant age requirements for 2021 are;

• U20 players must be born after Aug 31, 2000 and therefore under 20 as of August 31, 2020.
• U22 players must be born after Aug 31, 1998 and therefore under 22 as of August 31, 2020

1. Overage players must be resident in and hold a HK passport / permanent resident card.

• Players must be 16 years of age as of June 17, 2021. there for born on or earlier than June 16, 2005.

Squad Numbers

• The coaching staff and selection panel will select a group of 30 - 35 players to continue in the U20 program. The remaining players will be invited to continue in the HPP program contingent on their chances to play lacrosse in other areas and their desire to continue in the HPP program. The number will range between 30 and 35 based on the competitiveness of the players between the 30th and 35th positions.
• The coaching staff will not release a player in that group unless we are sure their development path is fully compared over time against the other players in that group.
