President of World Lacrosse Attended the Hong Kong Lacrosse Open 2019

World Lacrosse President Sue Redfern was joined by World Lacrosse Competition Director and Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU) Executive Director, Fiona Clark, as they both enjoyed the weekend long tournament games and festivities.
President Sue Redfern, who was in the city over the weekend taking in the sixth annual Hong Kong Lacrosse Open, said the recognition from International Olympic Committee (IOC) is one of the biggest moments in the sport’s history.
“In reality, the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles is our first real opportunity,” said Redfern, who noted demonstration sport status in the US iteration would be ideal. “And we will give that a serious go over the next three years as the decision (by the IOC) will be made in 2023 for the 2028 Olympics.”
Redfern also said Hong Kong is one of Asia’s “strongholds” with the Hong Kong Lacrosse Open as its linchpin event and that they are in the process of splitting the Asia-Pacific region into two entities as per Olympic geographical outlines. The FIL just signed up two African nations (Uganda and Kenya), which moves them onto every continent with 62 participating nations.
