The Hong Kong Lacrosse Association (HKLA) has announced plans for the Men's Field Team that will represent Hong Kong at the 2017 Asia Pacific Championships June 16-24, 2017 in Korea, and at the FIL Men's World Lacrosse Championship in 2018.
2018 will be the Men's 5th World Championship, having represented Hong Kong in the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Championships.
The 2017/18 Representative Team will operate on a camp/competition based schedule, so not to interfere with athletes other schedules and lacrosse commitments.
The Hong Kong women's representative team is currently ranked 18th in the world after participating in their first World Cup in 2013. The representative team has also competed in the Asian Pacific regional tournament (ASPAC) in 2009 (Korea), 2011 (New Zealand), and 2015 (Thailand) and will be looking to improve their ranking this year at both the ASPAC tournament in Jeju, Korea, June 16-24, and the World Cup in Surrey, England, July 12-22. Our coaching staff is currently holding an assessment process which will culminate in the selection of 18 players who will represent Hong Kong at the World Cup later this year.
Women's lacrosse in Hong Kong has grown significantly in recent years to include multiple youth programs, club teams, a high performance program and representative teams. Our high performance program has drawn coaches from North America, Europe, and Australia to develop our top young talent and has competed in tournaments in Melbourne, Berlin, and Bangkok, amongst others. Currently we are creating a high performance league to run throughout the year and are developing our junior representative team to compete in our first U19 World Cup being held in Peterborough, Canada, August 1-10, 2019.
