| HONG KONG - THAILAND FRIENDLY MATCH 2010
The Hong Kong lacrosse association (HKLA) hosted Thailand's men national lacrosse team under the floodlights and
the stars beneath the Hong Kong sky, on 3 July 2010. It was a historic night, for it was the first ever international game for the
Thailand lacrosse team, and the first of a two game series between both nations.
At the end of the first quarter Team Thailand lead 5-1. Then Hong Kong gathered themself,
and start their offensive productivity, with two goals in the second quarter,
at the half Thailand lead Hong Kong 6-3. Hong Kong lead by coach Louis Hou turned up the heat in the
third quarter, with two additional goals (and three more in the 4th) to get within a shouting distance
of the Thailand's lead. Thailand responded with 4 more goals in the second half, on top of the stellar
defense not allowing any goals during Hong Kong's man up opportunities. One of the game highlight was
the goaltending by Thailand's starting goalie Peem Chatikavanit, who played the entire 80 minutes of the
game. The coordinated effort on riding and clearing by the midfield unit, helped put the final nailed in
the coffin for Hong Kong's fate. The final scored after 80 minutes of lacrosse, Thailand edged Hong Kong 10-8.
Ryan Rabidou the coach of Thailand lacrosse team said after the game " A terrific game, and a great first win for Thailand.
I couldn't be happier for our team, especially our defense who played extremely well against a very strong,
and experience Hong Kong offense." he added "I would like to thanks coach Hou and the HKLA for their
hospitality, and giving us an opportunity to play with their team". It was an emotional night for the
players, and the fans as they understood the significant of the game.

| Men’s Clinic 2008
For four days from the 19th -22nd July 2008, HKLA invited the former head coach of the Japan National Team, Mr. Yoshihiro Okubo and the assistant coach of the 2006 Japan National Team, Mr. Takahiro Asato to hold a clinic for local players.
The clinic focused on teaching the participants some efficient line drills and reaction oriented warm-ups. The clinic also concentrated on off-ball positioning of attacking players and team defence. On the final day, 6 vs 6 games were held and participants could test their newly learned tactics and skills against each other.
During the four days, there were classroom sessions held for coaches and captains. These sessions focused on how to plan an efficient and effective training session and the roles of a coach and captain. The feedbacks of this clinic from all participants were positive ones and HKLA will hope to hold similar clinics in the near future. |

| Lacrosse Sevens 2008
For the first time ever, the association held a one-day event at the Stanley Ho Sports Ground in conjunction with the Lacrosse Club of HKUSU. As the name suggests, each team consists of seven players and there was a men’s and a women’s section. There were seven men’s team and three women’s team entering the tournament, played on a very hot Easter Monday. The men’s teams were split into two groups and the women’s teams played in a round robin system. For some of the girls playing in this tournament, it was their first taste of a real lacrosse game! A big thank you to all those involved in making this such a successful event! The association will hope to make such events a permanent fixture in the Hong Kong lacrosse calendar. |
